Great question. Many people confuse these:

Hacked: Someone breaks into YOUR existing account. They have your password. They can see your private messages, change your settings, and post as you. Your friends see the posts coming from your real account.

Cloned: Someone creates a new, fake account that resembles you. They copy your profile picture and public information, but they don’t have access to your real account. Your friends might receive friend requests from this fake account.

Hacked accounts need password changes and security lockdowns. Cloned accounts need to be reported to Facebook for impersonation.

You can have both problems at once—a hacker might clone your account AND break into your real one. That’s why I always check for both when someone asks for help.
